Straffelovens bestemmelse om avvergingsplikten ble endret i 2012. Hvor godt kjent er dette? Hvilken innflytelse har dette på det praktiske arbeidet som gjøres av dem som møter mødre og barn? Det er også et dilemma å vite hvordan man forholder seg til vold mot gravide kvinner. Hvilke regler gjelder? Hvordan kan man jobbe i forhold til dette i praksis? Hvordan kan vi best sikre barnets rett til et liv uten vold?

Krisesentersekretariatet vil i løpet av høsten 2017 gjennomføre kurs om avvergeplikten. Hvilke ansvar og plikter har hjelpeapparatet i førstelinjetjenesten i forhold til å forebygge mulig vold og krenkelser av barn? Etter gjennomført kurs er målet at kursdeltakerne skal ha kompetanse i forhold til plikt til å melde i fra og avverge krenkelser mot barn.  Deltakerne skal ha kunnskap om hvordan de melder bekymring til barnevernet, hva dette plikter av både melder og av barnevern og hvordan kriminelle handlinger avverges. Deltakerne skal også ha kjennskap til hverandre, slik at terskelen for å ta kontakt og drøfte konkrete saker blir lavere.

Kursene er støttet av justis- og beredskapsdepartementet.
