Krisesenterbevegelsen vokste raskt og allerede i 1980 deltok 26 krisesentergrupper på den første landskonferansen i Oslo.

Krisesenterbevegelsen – med oppstarten av krisesentrene for kvinner og deres barn og det politiske pådriverarbeidet for et liv uten vold – er kanskje det viktigste sosialpolitiske tiltaket som har vært opprettet for voldsutsatte kvinner etter 2. verdenskrig.
